Summary

ARHGAP20 (Rho GTPase activating protein 20, HGNC:18357) is a protein-coding gene on chromosome 11q22.3-q23.1, encoding Rho GTPase-activating protein 20 (Q9P2F6). GTPase activator for the Rho-type GTPases by converting them to an inactive GDP-bound state.

The protein encoded by this gene is an activator of RHO-type GTPases, transducing a signal from RAP1 to RHO and impacting neurite outgrowth.

Function. GTPase activator for the Rho-type GTPases by converting them to an inactive GDP-bound state.

Tissue specificity. Expressed predominantly in the brain. Lower expression is found in lymph nodes.

Disease relevance. A chromosomal aberration involving ARHGAP20 may be a cause of B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL). Translocation t(X;11)(q21;q23) with BRWD3 does not result in fusion transcripts but disrupts both genes.
