- One variant in BDNF-AS was significantly associated with long-term visual memory. (PMID:28304362)
- Study show that high concentrations of D-glucose induced significant apoptosis in human retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells in vitro. With treatment of 50 mM D-glucose, BDNF was markedly downregulated whereas BDNF-AS upregulated. Overall, results suggest that BDNF-AS, through inverse regulation of BDNF, might play a critical role in the process of D-glucose-induced apoptosis in diabetic retinopathy. (PMID:28657668)
