Summary

DIRC1 (disrupted in renal carcinoma 1, HGNC:15760) is a long non-coding RNA gene on chromosome 2q32.2.

Disruption of DIRC1 by translocation is associated with familial clear cell renal cancer. Overexpression of DIRC1 is associated with tumor progression and poor prognosis in gastric cancer.

At a glance

  • Gene type: non-coding (lncRNA) — no protein product; not a drug target. Variant/disease associations are omitted (they would be positional, from an overlapping protein-coding gene).

Literature-anchored findings (GeneRIF, showing 1)

  • Study results showed that high expression of DIRC1 was found in gastric cancer (GC) tissues compared with normal gastric tissues. High expression of DIRC1 was associated with more cases of severer tumor malignancy and shorter overall survival; besides, high-level of DIRC1 was suggested to be an independent prognostic factor for GC. Knockdown of DIRC1 inhibited SGC-7901 GC cells proliferation, migration and invasion. (PMID:30575946)
