Summary

HNF4A-AS1 (HNF4A antisense RNA 1, HGNC:49505) is a long non-coding RNA gene on chromosome 20q13.12.

At a glance

  • Gene type: non-coding (lncRNA) — no protein product; not a drug target. Variant/disease associations are omitted (they would be positional, from an overlapping protein-coding gene).

Literature-anchored findings (GeneRIF, showing 4)

  • Co-expression and functional annotation enrichment analyses across several tissues and cell types showed that the upregulated LINC01272 is associated with a myeloid pro-inflammatory signature, whereas the downregulated HNF4A-AS1 exhibits association with an epithelial metabolic signature. The study identified significant correlations between LINC01272 and HNF4A-AS1 expression and more severe mucosal injury. (PMID:29361088)
  • Study identified two lncRNAs, HNF1A-AS1 and HNF4A-AS1, which were able to affect susceptibility of acetaminophen (APAP)-induced liver injury in HepaRG cells, possibly through regulating the expression of APAP-metabolizing cytochrome P450 enzymes. This discovery added new factors, lncRNAs, which can be used to predict cytochrome P450-mediated drug metabolism and drug-induced toxicity. (PMID:32029527)
  • HNF4A-AS1-encoded small peptide promotes self-renewal and aggressiveness of neuroblastoma stem cells via eEF1A1-repressed SMAD4 transactivation. (PMID:35318442)
  • HNF4A-AS1 inhibits the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma by promoting the ubiquitin-modulated degradation of PCBP2 and suppressing the stability of ARG2 mRNA. (PMID:39430249)
