Summary

MIR31HG (MIR31 host gene, HGNC:37187) is a long non-coding RNA gene on chromosome 9p21.3.

This gene produces a long non-coding RNA that acts as a host gene for miR-31. This transcript may be involved in cellular pluripotency and regulate the differentiation of myoblasts and other tissues. This RNA was found to interact with Polycomb repressive proteins to repression transcription of genes involves in cell senescence.

Literature-anchored findings (GeneRIF, showing 36)

  • Results indicate that MIR31HG functions as an oncogenic long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) that promotes tumor progression, and miR-193b targets not only protein-coding genes but also the lncRNA, MIR31HG. (PMID:26549028)
  • MIR31HG expression is decreased in gastric cancer tissues and associated with larger tumor size and advanced pathological stage. Lower MIR31HG expression is associated with poorer prognosis. Ectopic over-expression of MIR31HG inhibits gastric cancer cell proliferation both in vitro and in vivo. MIR31HG knockdown by siRNA promoted cell proliferation in GC cells partly via regulating E2F1 and p21 expression. (PMID:26692098)
  • MIR31HG regulates bone formation and inflammation via interacting with NF-kappaB. (PMID:27334046)
  • MIR31HG is a HIF-1alpha co-activator that regulates the HIF-1 transcriptional network, crucial for cancer development.MIR31HG level is substantially upregulated in oral carcinoma, significantly associated with poor clinical outcomes and representing an independent prognostic predictor. (PMID:28639619)
  • Inhibition of MIR31HG reduced the enrichment of active histone markers, histone H3 lysine 4 trimethylation (H3K4me3) and acetylation (AcH3), in the promoter of the adipogenic-related gene, fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP4). (PMID:28808264)
  • results in vivo confirmed the anti-tumour effects of knockdown of LOC554202, which inhibited EZH2/miR-31 to activate the oncogene RNF144B (PMID:28963737)
  • observed that down-regulated MIR31HG in ESCC patients was associated with malignant clinical characteristics. MIR31HG might be considered as a potential prognostic indicator. (PMID:28975978)

(PMID:30447009)
  • The current results provide evidences for the role of MIR31HG in promoting HNSCC progression and identify MIR31HG as a prognostic biomarker and putative therapeutic target in HNSCC. (PMID:30458787)
  • LncRNA LOC554202 expression is higher in gastric cancer (GC) cells than that of gastric mucosal cells.
