Summary

PCAT14 (prostate cancer associated transcript 14, HGNC:48977) is a long non-coding RNA gene on chromosome 22q11.23.

At a glance

  • Gene type: non-coding (lncRNA) — no protein product; not a drug target. Variant/disease associations are omitted (they would be positional, from an overlapping protein-coding gene).

Literature-anchored findings (GeneRIF, showing 2)

  • Using RNA-sequencing data we identify PCAT14, a novel prostate cancer and lineage-specific lncRNA. PCAT14 is highly expressed in low grade disease and loss of PCAT14 predicts for disease aggressiveness and recurrence. (PMID:27566105)
  • Results demonstrate that PCAT-14 expression is associated with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), metastasis, tumor size, and TNM stage. Also, PCAT-14 promotes cell invasion and proliferation, and inhibits miR-372 expression by inducing methylation of CpG islands in the miR-372 promoter. In addition, PCAT-14 regulates ATAD2 expression and activation of Hedgehog pathway in HCC cells, depending on miR-372. (PMID:28415780)
