SNORD82 (small nucleolar RNA, C/D box 82, HGNC:10240) is a small nucleolar RNA gene on chromosome 2q37.1.
The majority of small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs) function as guide RNAs in the nucleotide modification of preribosomal RNA (pre-rRNA). C/D box snoRNAs, like SNORD82, are involved in site-specific 2-prime-O-ribose methylation of pre-rRNA (Rebane and Metspalu, 1999 [PubMed 10524220]).
