- This gene produces a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), that is positively regulated by the transforming growth factor beta (TGFbeta) signaling pathway. This lncRNA mediates the epigenetic silencing of specific genes that belong to TGFbeta and bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) pathways, by promoting repressive histone marks at their promoters, through interaction with components of the polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2).
